Flandreau Aquatic Center
SUMMER 2026 OPENING DATE: JUNE 1, 2026! ☀️
The Flandreau Aquatic Center was designed by Short Elliott Hendrickson, Inc. and constructed by G.A. Johnson Construction (both of Sioux Falls) and was completed in May 2004. This recreation initiative was funded through a grant approved by Governor Bill Janklow and local funds. The Flandreau Aquatic Center opened to rave reviews on May 28th, 2004. It features a zero-entry pool, slides, diving board, lap lanes and various water features. Amenities were provided through the fundraising efforts of the Flandreau Aquatic Center Committee and the generosity of the local community.

2026 Swimming Lesson Registration Information
Swimming lesson registration will open on Friday, May 22, 2026, at 9:00 AM. Registration will be completed online this year, and the cost is $25.00 per participant. Payment can be made in person at the Flandreau Aquatic Center during business hours by cash or check. Payment can also be made at the City Office during business hours by cash, check, or card (with applicable fees). Payment is due before the child begins lessons.
Due to a limited number of certified Water Safety Instructors on staff this summer, class sizes will be limited to ensure participant safety and maintain instructional quality in accordance with American Red Cross Learn-to-Swim guidelines. Instructional ratios are based on certified instructors, not assisting lifeguards. Even with additional lifeguards supporting swimming lessons, class sizes will remain capped to prioritize safety and quality instruction.
At the time of registration, participants will select an 11:00 AM time slot; however, classes will be offered at 11:00 AM, 11:30 AM, and 12:00 PM. Exact class times are TBD and will be communicated to parents/guardians closer to the start of lessons.
Please note that Preschool Aquatics will not be offered this summer. We will only offer American Red Cross Learn-to-Swim Levels 1-6. Placement is skill-based, not strictly age-based; however, Level 1 is typically geared towards learners aged 5 and older.

2026 Flandreau Aquatic Center Open House
Sunday, May 31, 2026, from 5:00 - 7:00 PM. Staff will be available for anyone interested in coming in to purchase memberships, pay for swimming lessons, ask questions, etc.

Water Aerobics
Tuesday, June 2, 2026, at 11:00 AM will be our first day of water aerobics. Time is subject to change during swimming lessons which will be announced as we get closer to lessons beginning.
