Garbage Collection

Garbage collection within the City of Flandreau is contracted to Eng Services. Under the terms of the contract, Eng Services collects all garbage and household refuse from all single-family and multiple-family residences, including mobile homes, within the corporate limits of the City of Flandreau. The monthly charge will provide for the collection and disposal of contents of not more than three containers (not less than ten gallons and not more than 30 gallons) for each domestic unit.

Garbage shall mean and include every accumulation of animal, vegetable or other matter that attends the preparation, consumption, display, use or storage of organic matter, including the can, container or wrapper wasted along with such matter. Household refuse shall mean and include such items as garbage, sweeping, cleanings, trash, litter and domestic solid waste. Household refuse shall not include any household hazardous waste, as defined by any state or federal regulation.

Eng Services and other businesses will also collect yard debris for an additional charge to be negotiated between the contractor and the party involved. This additional service is at the option of the user of those services. Yard debris shall include such items as grass lawn clippings and leaves.

Other refuse and debris, such as appliances, tires, furniture, etc. may be disposed of for a fee. Please contract Eng Services or other contractors providing such service to make individual arrangements.

The City of Flandreau Restricted Use Landfill Site is also open. Hours of operation are Wednesday – 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Saturday – 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
